1. CSO Legal Framework in Ethiopia
The Ethiopian Space Science Society (ESSS) is a registered Civil Society Organization (CSO) under the Authority for Civil Society Organizations of Ethiopia. All contributions made on this portal are treated as voluntary public donations. 100% of these contributions are processed directly into the official bank accounts of the society and utilized in complete compliance with the statutory laws governing CSO finance in Ethiopia.
2. Donation Allocation & Society Purpose
Your donations directly support the core educational mission of ESSS:
- Running and equipping space clubs in regional primary and secondary schools.
- Sponsoring astronomy public outreach events and public lecture seminars.
- Supporting university space science research projects and academic competitions.
- Operating and maintaining public digital platforms, stargazing tools, and infrastructure.
3. Appreciation Rewards
Supporters selecting contribution tiers on the portal are eligible to receive matching thank-you items (rewards) as an appreciation token. These rewards are available for pickup at our Addis Ababa main office (AAU CTBE Office 407) and must be collected within 1 week of online payment confirmation. You must present the email confirmation or SMS receipt containing the order ID at the pickup counter.
4. Non-commercial and Tax Treatment
Transactions are non-commercial. The reward items represent gifts from the society to its donors and are not commercial goods sold in standard commerce. In accordance with Ethiopian laws, public donations to a registered CSO may have distinct tax treatments. Supporters are advised to contact their financial advisers regarding tax deductibility of their contributions.
